Cici

I am not a dog person. I'm not really a pet person in general...until I met Cici. Months ago Trent told me about his friend Thad's dog. He told me how awesome she was and everything and he also told me that she was for sale. I didn't want a dog. I said that maybe one day when we have kids old enough to help take care of and play with a dog we could get one, but now is not a good time. Well, that was that...for a little while. In January Thad and his family were going out of town and needed a dog sitter. Trent asked if we could be the sitters so here comes Cici to our home. She was super nervous to be at our house at first. I'll be honest I was a little nervous for her to be here too. She's a big ole mean looking dog. That first night when Trent went to work I was left alone with her. Thad lent us his kennel for her to sleep in, so I put her in there and then headed up to bed. After a few minutes she started barking. Her bark is deep and loud. I got scared, I called Trent and told him that she was downstairs barking. I started thinking she must be barking at something or someone. I mean who just barks to bark? I told Trent that I was hearing things. I was curled up in a ball talking to him while listening to this beast in my house raise the roof. Was she mad? Scared? I don't know this dog, I just know that she's big and upset right now. Trent stayed on the phone with me and helped calm me down, he stayed on the phone with me while I went around the house and checked all the locks and windows. Once I got downstairs to where Cici was she stopped barking. I decided to sleep in the room with her on the spare bed. She was silent the entire night. She was just scared, she didn't know where she was and it was dark. The rest of the week was great, I took her on walks and cuddled with her. Then it came time for Thad to come pick her up and once she was gone I missed her. Trent and I both loved having her at our house. After a few days I still really missed her so we had the talk. Are we ready to start our family? Ha ha, just kidding. I know a dog is not a child, but our responsibility would have to be upped in order to have a dog. We couldn't just leave town for days without planning ahead for someone to take care of her. We couldn't not come right home from work because she would need to be let out and fed and exercised. After talking about the responsibility, cost and everything we decided to adopt little Cici.
We love her so much. I'll be honest, I never understood the people who were so all about their pets. People would say how dogs have personalities and they're so smart blah blah blah. I am regretful to say that I didn't really believe it. Well, I understand now. She really does have a personality and she's so smart. She's our big, hairy, stinky child. We love her!!!

We got a dog too. I love him. He's a puppy so of course sometimes he drives me CRAZY, but usually it's because we didn't walk/exercise him and he needs to get energy out. Have fun with Cici!
