The Hunger Games

So I'm in Wisconsin (pronounced Wis-can-sin) for a work conference. While I was at the airport in Salt Lake killing time before my flight left I took a look at the best sellers section of the books for sale. I see "The Hunger Games". I've heard about this book several times recently. One of my friends told me a broad summary of the book a while ago and I thought it sounded kind of morbid and didn't really think it sounded like something I wanted to read. I keep hearing about it though, and from non-morbid people, my curiosity is peaked.
So being the curious cat that I am, and realizing I have plenty of hours to kill over the next couple of days, I buy the book. Even the cashier ringing me up says "Oh you are going to LOVE this book". So I'm feeling pretty confident about my purchase.
So I start reading....it hooks me pretty quickly. Then I get to the hunger games part and I put the book down. "Do I really want to read this? Everyone says it's so good, but I'm thinking about what is about to happen and I can't imagine why I'd want to read this." These are some of the thoughts going through my head so I put the book in time out. I call on a very reliable source and ask her if it's ok to keep reading. She tells me her opinion on the matter and I decide to keep going. It's got me hooked. In fact, as I've been sitting in classes today I just kept thinking "I can't wait to go back and find out what happens." Am I a sicko? Anyway, I finished the book tonight and I'm left in a stupor...I really really liked the book, but I feel like for some reason I shouldn't have. I flew through it. If you've read it you may understand my dilemma. It was very entertaining and completely entranced me, but when I think about the actual story line...it's pretty morbid. So there you have it, I am a grody blood thirsty girl. For those of you who have read it, tell me what you think. Should I keep reading, does she make the Hunger Games stop forever? I feel like if she does then it will be ok. Tell me...ok don't...well...

haha I felt the same way about it. "This is sick and wrong!...What happens next??" I've read the next book, and although it's gory like the first, it's definitely really good, and there's definitely hope for good triumphing over evil. Keep reading! :)
